Brian Sabean
From Wiki Gonzalez
Brian Sabean is the General Manager of the San Francisco Giants. He became GM in 1996, replacing Bob Quinn.
Notorious for publicly dissing sabermetrics, saying it gives him a headache, Sabean has lately become famous for signing a whole lotta veterans, particularly free agents early in the offseason. Although he is throwing away amateur draft picks by signing them before arbitration is offered, he maintains this is by design, so that he can acquire the players he wants while not paying huge signing bonuses to unproven talent.
Some local media types have tried to foment a battle between Sabean and cross-bay rival Billy Beane, but very little on the record has been said about clashes between the two.
Catchphrase: "I am not an idiot" (said after trading away Matt Williams to Cleveland for Jeff Kent. Turns out he was right.).
