Je ne sais quoi is French for "I do not know what."

It is used to describe a quality that gives a person an extra attractiveness or effectiveness. In baseball, this is best witnessed in the person of Derek Jeter, though it is also known to exist in David Eckstein, Willie Bloomquist, Paul Lo Duca, and a variety of other (usually white) ballplayers whose skills are not evidenced by statistics but who nevertheless hold down jobs on good teams.

Home runs are antithetical to je ne sais quoi. Though it is not certain what the upper home run limit is for players who possess je ne sais quoi, anyone who consistently hits more than 20 is not likely to have it.
