Jim Hendry
From Wiki Gonzalez
Jim Hendry is the longstanding general manager of the Cubs, hired in 2002. He is best known on BBTF for his scouting background, eschewing statistical analysis in favor of a scouting-based approach to acquiring young talent.
Cub fans on Baseball Think Factory have wavered over the years in evaluating Hendry. On one hand, they know that in fact the Cubs have advanced numerous home-grown prospects (Hendry acquisitions) up to the big club. On the other hand, they are concerned about Hendry's relationship with controversial manager Dusty Baker, Baker's continual failure to develop the young talent Hendry has provided him, and whether Hendry approves or disapproves of Dusty's management approach. They are also concerned that the World Series-caliber team of 2003 has become one of the worst teams in baseball under his watch.
