Joe Garagiola Jr.
From Wiki Gonzalez
Joe Garagiola Jr. was a widely disrespected (at least by BTF denizens) general manager for the Diamondbacks from their founding as a franchise until 2005.
He was perhaps best known for his love of veteran presence, and willingness to follow managing partner Jerry Colangelo's directions to award huge contracts to said veterans. This approach paid off with a World Series victory and two other playoff appearances, performance unheard of for an expansion team, but it is believed to have hamstrung the team financially.
His father was a player, color commentator for NBC's baseball telecasts, and host of "The Tonight Show" on the night Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney announced they were forming Apple Corps.
At times, Joe Jr. has been refered to as "The Ringo of GMs." In mid-2005, with the team under new ownership, he left the D-Backs to join Major League Baseball as a high-level operations mucky-muck, or something like that.
