Omar Minaya
From Wiki Gonzalez
Omar Minaya is the current general manager of the New York Mets, and the first ever MLB GM of Latin American background. Before joining the Mets, he served as GM of the Montreal Expos (a difficult task with Major League Baseball as the team owner deciding his allowable payroll) and as the assistant GM of the Mets before that.
Early in the 2004-05 offseason, he was criticized by Primer Mets fans for headline-hunting to seemingly no effect. Later on, he redeemed much of his reputation with the bold signings of two jewels on the free agent market, Pedro Martinez and Carlos Beltran, which seemed to demonstrate his ability to convince the Wilpons to shell out money for good players. It remains to see how well his acquisitions perform in orange and blue.
